Late Model Driver Frank Levesque Dies in Water Rescue Effort

NAPLES, FL- Former dirt late model driver Francois "Frank" Levesque,48, a Windsor, ON native, died on August 10, 2008 in a drowning accident. Levesque was canoeing near Naples and came upon several people in the water who were in trouble. In a valiant attempt to rescue them, Levesque drowned. The veteran Windsor driver started his racing career at South Buxton International Raceway in Merlin, ON. In 2003, he began to travel to Ohio and raced at Oakshade Raceway, Fremont Speedway and Eldora Speedway and in events with the American Late Model Series. (more)

Adam West Breaks Down Sprint/Late Model Barriers

RIDGETOWN, ON, CANADA- Over the years in the very diverse worlds of sprint car and late model racing, there has never been much common ground between the two divisions.
Sprint car enthusiasts say that they wouldn't walk across the street to watch the taxi's(late models) run. And late model aficionadoes are no different. At many southern locations, when the sprint cars roll onto the track for an occasional show, the fans race to the hot dog stand.
Adam West, however is doing his part to break down those barriers. (more)

Ontario Dirt Late Models Invade Ohsweken Speedway

BLENHEIM, ON, CANADA- As the 2008 racing season begins to wind down, the "Ontario Dirt Late Models" visit Ohsweken(ON) Speedway on Friday, August 29 for the second and final time this year.
The opening appearance at Ohsweken in June was a co-sanctioned event with the "World of Outlaws Late Model Series." In that race, the "Six Nations 50," Tim McCreadie of Watertown, NY came away the winner. Chris Ross of Wallaceburg, ON was the top "ODLM" finisher with a 12th place effort. (more)
